Abraham Lincoln’s statuesque image was carefully staged in his photos to make him look less “ugly” which was a story that was spreading like wildfire before people had even seen him as he stumped for the presidency.

“Doctoring” photos is almost as old as the invention of the photograph. Our favorite photos are often “fixed” before printing (think graduation pictures). That is okay though.
