Collector Spotlight: Kurt B.

Hello, everyone! We’re starting a new feature here on the BU Blog, The Collector Spotlight! At Bags Unlimited, we understand collectors, because, not only are we collectors ourselves, we’re also always talking to fellow hobby enthusiasts, whether it be online, at our Rochester, NY. location, or at one of the many conventions we attend. What we know is that without collectors, there’d be no hobby, and that would be terrible for life on earth as we know it! So, here’s a spotlight just for you, fellow collectors!

Recently, we got the opportunity to talk with Kurt, a fellow collector from the west coast, and one awesome guy. We asked him if he would like to be the first person to be featured for The Collector Spotlight, and not only did he agree,  he was kind enough to answer some questions and share some pics of his great collection with us!

Read the short interview and check out Kurt’s killer collection below!

BU: How long have you been collecting?

Kurt: I started collecting cards at age 10. That makes 33 years.

What got you into collecting?

I’ve been an athlete and a sports fan all my life, so card collecting came easy to me. I was already familiar with all the teams, players and rules, (baseball, football, basketball), so I was able to dive right in.

Card collecting hit it’s biggest peak from approximately 1986-1993. Most of my cards are from this time period so their value is pretty much $0. I had put ton of my heart and soul into the hobby though, so I never gave up on it.

Even though I’ve always been the guy that is in search of that (1) card like the Honus Wagner or like all those Ty Cobb cards that were recently discovered and valued at millions, I really enjoy the hobby just for what it is. The love of the game which elevated to a love of the hobby.

What is it that drew you to Bags Unlimited?

I have just become friends with BU, but already, they have brought me back in connection with the card collecting world, and just the enjoyment of bringing together people with similar interests.

I’ve checked out many card collecting sites and sources over the years and BU is the first that has lit the fire within me and helped me remember how much I love this hobby…
A big thank you to the people at BU for reminding me of a true passion of mine.

Thanks, Kurt! We love what we do and we love the collectors we serve! Below are some pics, Kurt provided of his astounding collection:
